CONTEMPORARY ART ROOM GALLERY announces their 2nd Colors Online Art Competition. An international competition where artists from around the world are welcome to submit their work. In this open subject competition, the theme is concentration of color. Artworks with either one or a multitude of colors will be accepted. A variety of interpretations of Colors theme can be submitted (representative, abstract, conceptional . . .). All visual art mediums are acceptable (painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, digital, prints, fiber art, collage or installation art) except sound and video art. All winning artists receive a digital award certificate. First, second and third place will be largely displayed with an article about the artist and their work. Winning artwork (First place) will be on the poster of the show. Depending on the number and quality of all submissions received, Merit awards and Honorable Mention awards may also be presented. CRESCENT BEACH POP-UP GALLERY invites artist teams and collective to submit proposals for the 2020 season. Welcomes exhibitions, open studios, community art projects. I have been a painter for many years, concentrating mostly on landscapes

  for the past twelve. I am a graduate of Emily Carr University and have degrees from UBC in Studio Arts and Education.

I also studied photography informally, having one two-person photography show at the Vancouver Community Arts Gallery in 1983. I have had solo shows of my painting and printmaking in Vancouver and on Vancouver Island and I regularly participate in juried shows.

My work has been published on the cover of the 1995 UBC Summer Calendar, as book illustrations in Children of the Rivers by Heather Hallett and Artists of B.C., Volume 2. I have worked as an art teacher in the British Columbia school system and given workshops in community centers

and in the B.C. prisons. I am an active supporter of the arts, having

been on the ECUAD Alumni Committee, an Active Member of the

FCA, and a member of the Surrey Art Gallery, The Seymour Art

Gallery, the North Vancouver Community Art Gallery, the Port Moody

Arts Center and the West Vancouver Community Arts Council.

The style I prefer to work in is somewhat impressionistic.
I live in Kitsilano in Vancouver where I strive to improve my art – 
continuing to study with artists whose work interests me – most 
recently with Mike Svob, Eri Iishi, Susan Woolgar and Val Nelson.

THE GALLERY AT THE ARTS CENTRE, Maury Young Arts Centre in Whistler, welcomes ideas and applications for group shows on an ongoing basis (group shows are preferred; however, artists may apply individually and Arts Whistler may offer the opportunity for a solo applicant to be paired with a group show). THE LANGLEY CENTENNIAL MUSEUM invites artists to participate in its Foyer Art Program. Submission deadline Nov 15, 2019. OAK BAY PARKS, RECREATION AND CULTURE invite professional, mid-career and emerging artists to submit applications for 2020 exhibitions at the Neighbourhood Learning Centre (adjacent to Oak Bay High School). Applications are accepted throughout the year to exhibit paintings, photographs (two-dimensional art only), and is provided free of charge to promote local artists and arts and culture groups. Artists and groups from Oak Bay and neighbouring municipalities may apply. The Neighbourhood Learning Centre can accommodate approximately 40 works of art. PACIFIC ARTS MARKET (in Vancouver) offers space to artists, craftspeople, designers, etc to display and sell their work. Artists design their own area and have control over how their work is displayed. No commission is taken on sold art. Pacific Arts Market manages the space and sells the work, therefore, there is no need for artists to be onsite. Spaces measure between 15 - 20 sq. feet. Cost is $275 + GST for a 4 week period. PEACE LIARD REGIONAL ARTS COUNCIL offers a region-wide online artist database to their Northern BC regional artists. Artists or art groups, working in any discipline (theatre, visual arts, photography, videography, writing, music, pottery, etc.) can be included in this online artist database. THE ROSSLAND COUNCIL FOR ARTS AND CULTURE (RCAC) and VISAC Gallery presents The Art of Adornment, a fashion show, contest, and exhibition to celebrate International Women’s Day. SEYMOUR ART GALLERY, GALLERY SHOP accepts artist submissions on an on-going basis. The Gallery Shop Committee reviews submissions twice annually. It is recommended that interested artists visit the Gallery Shop before making a submission, as submissions are most likely accepted if the artwork is different than what is currently stocked. Accepted artists will be asked to bring finished samples for jurying. Artists begin with a three-month trial to ensure the relationship is a good fit for both the artist and the Gallery Shop. Applications from all BC artists are welcome, however applying artists should keep in mind they must be able to conveniently visit the Gallery Shop to replenish their stock. Accepted artists are required to become a member of the Seymour Art Gallery Society and artists do not need to be a member to apply. 2019 VANCOUVER ISLAND MINIATURE MASTERPIECE ART SHOW (3rd annual) invites submissions. This annual event features miniature works of art, exhibited at Excellent Frameworks Gallery (in Duncan) in December. The show was initially created as an opportunity for artists to gather together as well as increase the sales of the Gallery’s featured artists. Excellent Frameworks provides the framing for each miniature work of art. VERNON COMMUNITY ARTS CENTRE invites artists to participate in the 2nd annual Diwali in Vernon. The Festival runs Oct 15 to Nov 4, and the Arts Centre is planning an October exhibit in conjunction with this multicultural Festival of Light. The Centre’s Showcase of Light runs Oct 11 to Nov 4. Seeking members to submit their original artwork that is representative of "Light".  All mediums are welcome (painting, photography, glass, clay, etc). Wall pieces must be ready to hang (ie. proper wire attached). All work must be original. 25% commission charged on all sold works. Gallery space is limited to no more than 3 pieces of work per artist. A single wall piece may not exceed 36" and 3D pieces must be able to sit on available plinths. THE VINEYARD ART SERIES CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS. Gallery 6 presents their 1st Annual Vineyard Art Series and invites all BC artists to participate. Deadline ongoing. The Fraser Valley Watermedia Society (FVWS) painting exhibition Visions of Abbotsford, Nov 7 to Jan 7, 2020 at the Reach Gallery Museum (32388 Veterans Way, Abbotsford). The ACT Art Gallery presents FORGET-ME-NOT, MÉTIS ROSE: The Far West, showing until Oct 26. The exhibition features a recent collection of collaborative works by Métis artists, Lisa Shepherd, who is based in Maple Ridge, and Kristi Bridgeman, who works from her home studio in Victoria. Shepherd combines her beadwork with Bridgeman’s paintings and illustrations. The Garibaldi Art Club presents its 60th Fall Show at the Fraserview Village Hall (22610 116th Ave, Maple Ridge). Newspapers and magazines (and television and radio) can also be cost-free promotional opportunities. But you have to know how to approach this 'media' to ensure your news will be published. ART HABENS offers artists a unique opportunity to be featured in their publication. SURREY ART GALLERY ASSOCIATION (SAGA) invites local artists and the community to a Competitive Sketch Off at Surrey Art Gallery on Oct 19, 6 - 8:30 pm. Admission is free. Twelve professional artists will face off in four timed rounds using sketching materials. The audience will vote for their favourite artist after each round. Winners from the first three rounds will then compete in a fourth and final round, with the audience crowning the “People’s Sketch Master” at the end of the night. Following the competition, artists can choose to keep their sketches or sell them through the Surrey Art Gallery Association’s Art Rental Program. KENT HARRISON ARTS COUNCIL (at the Ranger Station Art Gallery, in Harrison Hot Springs) invites all BC artists to participate in their annual Small Works Art Show. Work must be created on 10” x 10” wood panels. Panels can be purchased at the Ranger Station Art Gallery (98 Rockwell Drive, Harrison Hot Springs). Deadline to drop finished works at the gallery is Nov 1, 4 pm. Exhibition dates are Nov 2 to Dec 8, 2019. SILVERSTAR AND THE ARTS COUNCIL OF THE NORTH OKANAGAN invite artists to sell their art at the Annual Silver Star Christmas Light Up at SilverStar Mountain Resort, Nov 29 (beginning at 5 pm). The Light Up is a family-friendly outdoor event in the village and one of the biggest nights of the year on the mountain, attracting a crowd of about 4500-5500 people. Vendor fees are not charged, but artists must supply their own tent and table. SilverStar will have tent/table combos available for rent for $100 for those without their own (this option is limited and will be given on a first come first serve basis). The schedule and map of vendor locations will be distributed closer to the date of the event. This is an outdoor festival: Access to power, heating, and additional lighting is not provided by SilverStar. Vendors are advised to bring a small generator or portable heater/lighting. SALT SPRINGS ARTS COUNCIL’S ARTCRAFT AND WINTERCRAFT. Artcraft Showcase 2020 submission information is now available at Application deadline Oct 31. Showcases feature four curated, summertime exhibitions on the stage at Artcraft. Wintercraft submissions are also now available at Deadline Oct 31. This is a non-juried, holiday show and sale of fine crafts and arts made on the Southern Gulf Islands.

VICTORIA EVENTS CENTRE invites artists to display their work, filling blank walls with pieces by different artists every one or two months. Welcomes submissions from individual artists as well as Arts organizations or curators who would like to curate a small show (putting out a call for art submissions on a certain theme, organizing a launch party, etc.). SHATFORD CENTRE invites artists to submit works to Children of The World, an exhibit in recognition of World Children’s Day. Works are to celebrate youth, affirming our commitment to fulfilling the rights of every child. All media welcome. LANDMARK POP-UP TOWN GALLERY is accepting applications for 2021. The City of White Rock invites proposals from teams of artists wishing to display and sell art at the Landmark Pop Uptown Gallery 15140 North Bluff Road (Central Plaza). The intent is to utilize the retail space for artists to work, to sell work, to rehearse or to produce creative projects. At least one of the artists or curator must reside in White Rock or South Surrey in order to be eligible for the use of this space. The empty storefront is free of charge but the group must provide short-term general liability insurance and pay a $150 damage deposit. The funds will be returned subject to an inspection at the end of the tenancy. Artists must ensure the space is open to the public for a minimum of four days a week, including Saturdays (Hours: at a minimum are Thursday/Friday 1-5pm and Saturdays 10-5pm. 7. SEMIAHMOO ARTS SOCIETY invites artists to participate in Love Show; Portraits of Your Passion. Welcomes applications from artists in the visual, pottery, performing and literary arts to showcase their artwork at the City of White Rock’s Community Centre. THE GAGE GALLERY ARTS COLLECTIVE invites Victoria-area visual artists to consider becoming members of the Gallery. Members share the responsibilities of running the contemporary art gallery at 2031 Oak Bay Avenue. In the main gallery, members participate in annual solo shows highlighting their personal visions and in group shows with other Gage artists. In the Small Works Gallery, members maintain an ongoing, self-managed space to show smaller originals, prints, and cards. Membership fee is $100 / month. VANCITY is accepting applications of expressions of interest from artists or artist teams who live or work in Metro Vancouver, Fraser Valley and Squamish Valley, to design and integrate a site-specific art commission for the Victoria Drive community branch. Seeking applications for artwork that reflect and interpret, in a celebratory way, the rich and diverse culture of the local community. Content / themes must align to Vancity’s vision and values and can be social, economic, historical, environmental or a combination. Preference is given to submissions that aim to incorporate up-cycled, recycled, sustainably sourced, salvaged, found and/or other natural media. EMILY CARR UNIVERSITY OF ART + DESIGN invites mentors working in the cultural sector to apply for The Art Apprenticeship Network, run by the Shumak Centre for Creative Entrepreneurship at Emily Carr University of Art + Design. This new initiative offers students experience in real-world, hands-on settings such as studios, production spaces and exhibition venues. Professionals in curation, studio arts, gallery management, art handling, archiving and related professions are welcome to apply with a proposal for a one-on-one mentorship opportunity. GALLERY RING, an online international gallery, invites all artists to participate in “Sky” Online International Juried Exhibition. COQUITLAM HERITAGE SOCIETY invites artists to participate in an upcoming exhibition: Civilian Impressions: Remnants of Conflict. The casualties of conflict are not just on the battlefield, they are in homes, towns and refugee camps. Stories are remembered, passed down through generations and speak to the resilience of the human spirit. For this exhibit, artists are asked to create a work of art inspired by those on the home front of conflict. TWO RIVERS GALLERY (Prince George) welcomes submissions for All for Water.
