THE ARTS COUNCIL OF NEW WESTMINSTER extends its 2019 Call for Artists at The Gallery at Queen's Park. The Arts Council of New Westminster aims to have exhibitions that feature a variety of visual arts by a wide range of artists from the Metro Vancouver region. The exhibition program reflects both the cultural and artistic diversity of contemporary art and serves as an educational forum for the citizens of New Westminster and surrounding communities. The Arts Council wishes to highlight how diverse the community is, and in order to break down any exclusionary barriers and create a platform for marginalized voices, artists on the LGBTQ spectrum, non-binary artists, artists of colour, Indigenous artists, and disabled artists, are strongly encouraged to submit. JAM IN JUBILEE 2018, presented by The Abbotsford Arts Council, welcomes all artists, crafters, local businesses, organizations and foodies to apply to take part in this year’s summer series. This is an open-air market - a venue for local artisans, crafters and foodies to sell, promote and showcase their goods. The Market runs every Thursday for 4 weeks: July 12 - Aug 2. Rental space size is 10”x10” and participants must provide their own tent, tables, chairs and self-powered lighting for their area. Tent must be weighted. Power is NOT available. WILDLIFE HABITAT CANADA (WHC) invites Canadian artists to participate in the 2020 Canadian Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp Art Competition. The eligible species for the 2019 Art Competition is the Northern Pintail (Anas acuta). Since 1985, WHC has conducted an annual Art Contest to select the image featured on the Canadian Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp & Print. The proceeds from the sales fund habitat conservation efforts across Canada. WHERE COUNTRY AND CITY MEET open call to artists: Langley is known for lush farmland, nature and forests. It has also grown, more recently, into a city with the crowds and convenience that offers. LTABC ART AND PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT submissions are welcomed by Arts Victoria. The Land Trust Alliance of British Columbia (LTABC) is hosting an exhibit of Art and Photography in the fall of 2018 to celebrate and promote the work of the LTABC as well as the natural beauty of British Columbia and Canada. Open to all BC artists. CITY OF RICHMOND offers artist exhibition opportunities in several Richmond facilities. Selected artists may be exhibited in either one or several of the facilities in any given year. Artworks may include paintings, drawings, photographs, quilts or other textile pieces and can be displayed on framed paper or on canvas. Some facilities may be able to accommodate three-dimensional art such as pottery. Though priority is given to Richmond artists, all local artists from the Lower Mainland are welcome to submit proposals. Deadline is ongoing. STEEL & OAK BREWING COMPANY (New Westminster) invites artists to exhibit in its new community arts space within the tasting room. Artwork will rotate quarterly (four-month periods). To celebrate the new gallery, the theme of the first exhibition will be Community, as it is interpreted by the artist. All visual artists, established or emerging, from the lower mainland are encouraged to submit to Steel & Oak’s new community arts program. To highlight the diversity of community, to break down barriers, and to create a platform for marginalized voices, artists on the LGBTQ spectrum, non-binary artists, artists of colour, and/or disabled artists, are strongly encouraged to submit. OLIVER COMMUNITY ARTS COUNCIL invites artists to participate in their annual Fall Art Show & Sale, Sept 29 & 30. The show and sale runs jointly with the BIG Festival of the Grape at the Oliver Community Centre. The two-day event includes a competition in nine categories, public voting, exhibits and demos by featured artists, live entertainment, an evening reception, and several raffles including a wine fridge. Visual artists in all media and of all ages are encouraged to enter. This year’s theme is “Go with the Flow”. Flow can mean many things, not just liquids: artists are asked to interpret the theme with their technique, subject matter, or even the “flow” of thoughts and feelings the artist or viewer might experience. Categories include Photography, Fibre Art, Oil, Acrylic, Watercolour, Three-Dimensional, and Mixed/Other Media. Entry deadline is Sept 7. Early bird draw: Submit form and fee before Sept 7 for a chance to win back the entry fee or enter a second piece for free. NOTE: Artwork need not be completed by the deadline date. Artwork is delivered to the venue on the morning of the show (Sept 29). Youth category entries receive an extension of one week (Sept 14) to assist with back-to-school admin issues. VANCOUVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AUTHORITY ART DISPLAY PROGRAM invites artists to participate. There are 51 display cases located in the International, Trans-Border, Domestic departure/arrival gates (post-security) and also in the South Terminal Building. The cases are freestanding and visible from all four sides; interior space measures 66” (h) x 45” (w) x 29” (d) with a door opening of 66” (h) x 35” (w). All types of artwork are welcome: paintings, sculpture, carvings, etc. and all ideas are welcomed. The cases include directed lighting, moderate ultraviolet protection and two sets of locking mechanisms. However, the cases are not environmentally controlled and are subject to ambient conditions. While temperature and humidity are relatively stable, works sensitive to light and humidity should not be submitted for display. Exhibitions rotate throughout the terminals bi-annually. If works are sold, artists can arrange their removal or replacement after the six- month minimum display period. Artwork is credited inside the display case with the artist’s name, the title of the work, the medium, a contact name, address, phone number, email address, website, etc., for further inquiries. YVR does not charge any fees or commissions. Artworks are insured while on display, but not during transit to/from YVR. To display the artworks, plinths are provided for sculptures and interior walls for two-dimensional works. As the display cases are fully accessible by viewers, works can be mounted on both sides of the wall. Artists are responsible for delivery to YVR, and YVR will be responsible for their return (or vice versa if more convenient). Those interested to submit works for consideration are asked to submit the following: Images of the artist’s work currently available for display; Description of the work including title, size, medium, subject matter and value; Any other information for consideration, such as Artist Statement or Resume.
