orn in The Netherlands, I immigrated to Canada and have lived in Vancouver since 1999 (and have subscribed to

The Artist’s Journal since my early years in Vancouver).

I received formal training in the European art tradition in The Netherlands and France. Creating art has always been a part of my life. First, while I was working in health care, where I used different art forms to communicate with clients/patients. More than 25 years now I have been an independent artist and art educator.

I love to work in series. This allows me to go deeper into the theme of my paintings and explore different

angles and approaches. My latest series is based on lines out of the book The Little Prince. Layering

mixed media techniques are my choice of artistic expression, not only in my own artwork but also

when I mentor and coach student artists. I offer workshops, both in B.C. and beyond, and private

studio sessions at my art studio in Vancouver.

I have extensive exhibit experience both national and international

in public and commercial galleries. I am a recipient of the BC award

for excellence in Post Secondary Art Education. And reviews of my

work have been published by Reader’s Digest, several national and

local newspapers, Channel M, Global and CBC TV and radio.

                                                                                         In addition to pieces that

                                                                                         have been commissioned by

                                                                                         individuals and corporations,

a great deal of my work is

                                                                                         sold at exhibits. Over the

                                                                                         years many of my paintings

                                                                                         have found homes in Europe,

                                                                                         North and South America,

                                                                                         Australia, South Africa,

                                                                                         China, and Japan.
