THE BURNABY ARTS COUNCIL is accepting submissions for their 2019/20 calendar year, in the Deer Lake Art Gallery (6584 Deer Lake Avenue, Burnaby). Invites visual artists working in all media including painting, photography, mixed media, sculpture, ceramics, wood, metal work and installation work. Photography or digital mixed media work may sell prints, but otherwise all other work must be original: No giclee prints, photocopies, numbered prints et cetera will be accepted for exhibition. THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM invites artists to submit proposals for the following two programs: Exhibitions at the Michael Wright Art Gallery and Outlet Gallery and Artist-In-Residence Program. The Michael Wright Art Gallery(MWAG), and Outlet Gallery at Leigh Square feature a rotating program of exhibitions by local and regional artists. The gallery welcomes proposals from artists for exhibitions in all media and subject matter, including solo or group shows of two or more artists. The Leigh Square Artist-in-Residence program is a self-directed residency offering artists the opportunity to research, develop and produce new or ongoing bodies of work, with dedicated studio time in a creative environment. Residencies are for artists or artist collectives working in the visual, performance, literary, and musical arts. COAST COLLECTIVE ARTS CENTRE (Colwood, Vancouver Island) invites all BC artists to participate in a joint show for poets and artists. Show runs April 3-14, 2019. For this exhibition, poets submit their words and artists will choose one of those poems to interpret in any medium. The Nov 28 deadline is for expressing interest of participation only from poets and artists willing to submit their work. The package of poems will be distributed to artists on Nov 30. Poem selection is first come, first serve. Art deadline for poster consideration is March 6 and the artwork information submission deadline is March 20. Questions? THE ELKFORD ARTS COUNCIL (EAC) invites artists (or artist teams) to submit a proposal to design and create a site-specific public artwork at the Elkford Community Conference Centre. Open to professional artists (and artist teams) who are residents of the Columbia Basin. LANGLEY CENTENNIAL MUSEUM is accepting submission for their Foyer Art Program. Artists are invited to submit photographs of recent artwork, in any medium, for consideration in the upcoming 2019 program. Exhibition space in the museum can accommodate between three and ten pieces of artwork, depending on the size of the pieces. Preference are given to local artists, however, the program is open to all artists across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. The site is best suited to exhibit two-dimensional artwork, although three-dimensional work may be considered. The museum plans to display each artist’s works in two-month time slots. Interested artists are encouraged to view the exhibition space. THE NORTH VANCOUVER COMMUNITY ARTS COUNCIL & CITYSCAPE COMMUNITY ART SPACE invites artists to participate in the 14th Annual Anonymous Art Show. This group exhibition and fundraising event will include emerging and established two-dimensional artists working strictly on unframed 8” x 8” x 1½” back stapled canvas or wood cradle panel. Artists are required to sign only the back of the canvas as the paintings are displayed anonymously. Each piece is priced at $100. Sales are divided 50/50 between the artist and the NVCAC. Purchased paintings are immediately taken off the wall and given to the purchaser. In its place a sold tag will reveal the artist’s name. The library is a popular venue for first-time and more experienced artists to showcase their talents. Works displayed include photography, watercolour, oil, and mixed media. SEYMOUR ART GALLERY, GALLERY SHOP accepts artist submissions on an on-going basis. The Gallery Shop Committee reviews submissions twice annually. It is recommended that interested artists visit the Gallery Shop before making a submission, as submissions are most likely accepted if the artwork is different than what is currently stocked. Accepted artists will be asked to bring finished samples for jurying. Artists begin with a three-month trial to ensure the relationship is a good fit for both the artist and the Gallery Shop. Applications from all BC artists are welcome, however applying artists should keep in mind they must be able to conveniently visit the Gallery Shop to replenish their stock. Accepted artists are required to become a member of the Seymour Art Gallery Society and artists do not need to be a member to apply. Participants are to create one or several 6"x6"-sized work of art of any medium, style or material and donate it to the Smithers Art Gallery to be sold by silent auction. Blank 6"x6" wood cradle panels are available at art supply stores or artists can make their own out of any material. VANCOUVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AUTHORITY ART DISPLAY PROGRAM invites artists to participate. There are 51 display cases located in the International, Trans-Border, Domestic departure/arrival gates (post-security) and also in the South Terminal Building. The cases are freestanding and visible from all four sides; interior space measures 66” (h) x 45” (w) x 29” (d) with a door opening of 66” (h) x 35” (w). All types of artwork are welcome: paintings, sculpture, carvings, etc. and all ideas are welcomed. The cases include directed lighting, moderate ultraviolet protection and two sets of locking mechanisms. However, the cases are not environmentally controlled and are subject to ambient conditions. While temperature and humidity are relatively stable, works sensitive to light and humidity should not be submitted for display. Exhibitions rotate throughout the terminals bi-annually. If works are sold, artists can arrange their removal or replacement after the six- month minimum display period. Artwork is credited inside the display case with the artist’s name, the title of the work, the medium, a contact name, address, phone number, email address, website, etc., for further inquiries. YVR does not charge any fees or commissions. Artworks are insured while on display, but not during transit to/from YVR. To display the artworks, plinths are provided for sculptures and interior walls for two-dimensional works. As the display cases are fully accessible by viewers, works can be mounted on both sides of the wall. Artists are responsible for delivery to YVR, and YVR will be responsible for their return (or vice versa if more convenient). Those interested to submit works for consideration are asked to submit the following: Images of the artist’s work currently available for display; Description of the work including title, size, medium, subject matter and value; Any other information for consideration, such as Artist Statement or Resume. ART CLUB DEMO OR CONFERENCE WORKSHOP: Using the News Media as a free promotional tool. Social media is effective to promote your arts event or your private art show, but don't ignore the many who still don't 'do' social media! Newspapers and magazines (and television and radio) can also be cost-free promotional opportunities. But you have to know how to approach this 'media' to ensure your news will be published. Eve Lees, Editor/Publisher of The Artist's Journal offers over 35 years of experience and training as a Graphic Designer and former newspaper editor to teach you how to prepare a proper 'News Release' and many other tips to inform the public about who you are and what you do. Eve will also share Graphic Design techniques and tricks to design your own eye-catching and effective posters and other marketing tools. This information is valuable for Art Clubs and individual artists who want to promote their shows and events. THE BEAUMONT STUDIOS (Vancouver) invites artists to apply for their upcoming Fall Emerging Artists Exhibition in Nov 2018. Artists of all disciplines are welcome to submit their artwork. Submission deadline Oct 10. Selected artists are offered promotion, exhibition and a formal reception, including an Artist Talk during the opening reception (optional). The Beaumont Studios professional gallery team works with the artists to organize the exhibition including installation, set up and promotion. All artwork submitted is reviewed by a curatorial panel and kept on file to be considered for each upcoming exhibition. The participation fee for selected artists is $85 plus GST. No commission is taken on sold art pieces during the exhibition: all sales go directly to the artist. The exhibition runs Nov 8 to 22, with an opening reception Nov 9 (artists are required to be present that evening). From mid-Nov until Dec 23, the gallery of the Coast Collective Art Centre will be transformed into a holiday gift shop of hand-made items. This is not a traditional Christmas craft show where each artist mans a table, but a group exhibition of art and fine craft suited for gift giving. THE LEIGH SQUARE 2019 ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM welcomes artist applications. This City of Port Coquitlam program is a self-directed residency offering artists the opportunity to research, develop and produce new or ongoing bodies of work, with dedicated studio time in a creative environment. Residencies are for artists or artist collectives working in the visual, performance, literary, and musical arts. In exchange for studio space, artists facilitate public workshops and outreach programs for the local community as part of their residency. The duration of the residency is four months for the following three terms in 2019: Jan 1 - April 30, May 1 - Aug 31, Sept 1 - Dec 21. Artists are required to commit a minimum of 20 hours a week and are supported with an honorarium of $850 dollars for their time. Submission deadline Nov 16, 2018. ISLAND MOUNTAIN ARTS GALLERY (Wells) invites artists from Wells, Barkerville, Bowron Lake, Troll and Cottonwood to submit 2 works per person in the annual Wells Works exhibition opening Dec 7. YAMANA GOLD PASSION TO PERFORM invites artists to submit paintings, drawings, sculptures and photography as entries to Passion to Perform. Prizes will be awarded in $USD based on a jury selection of $6,000 for first prize, $2,500 for second prize and $1,500 for third prize. In addition, a fund has been established to acquire artworks from the shortlist of finalists, which will then become part of the permanent collection of Yamana Gold, a gold producer with operations and properties throughout the Americas. Passion to Perform is an international competition, celebrating the interconnection between performance and passion. THE DRIFT & ART JAM 4, hosted by ART SWELL and Renegade Arts Company, invite artists to participate in this event on Nov 24, 2 – 10 pm in Vancouver (3030 E. Broadway). The Drift Annual Art Show features local artists, open studios, as well as dance and music performances throughout the event. The fee for Art Exhibitors in The Drift Festival is $20 or $15 for students. Also included is ART JAM, a collaborative painting party designed for all artistic levels. KIMBERLEY ARTS AT CENTRE 64 invites artists to participate in Unframed. Artists are welcome to enter a maximum of 3 pieces appropriately unframed, although the art can be mounted. The theme Unframed can also be interpreted in any way the artist prefers. Art in any medium accepted. No hanging fee for members of the Kimberley Arts Council – Centre 64. However, non-members are required to pay a fee of $25. The Arts Council charges a 30% commission on any works sold during the exhibition. THE WEST VANCOUVER COMMUNITY ARTS COUNCIL seeks submissions from artists & artisans for consignment to their gallery shop, The Art Box. The Art Box, situated in the Silk Purse Arts Centre, is in a busy location close to the West Vancouver Seawalk (1570 Argyle Avenue). Welcomes submissions for art cards: greeting cards featuring your original artwork or reproductions of your original artwork. Artwork can be any subject/media: landscapes, still life, abstract, paintings, photos, paper art, and more! PACIFIC ARTS MARKET (Vancouver) opens Dec 1, offering space for local artists, craftspeople, designers, etc to display and sell their work. Artists design their own area and have control over how their work is displayed. No commission is taken on sold art. Pacific Arts Market manages the space and sells the work, therefore, there is no need for artists to be onsite. Spaces measure between 15 - 20 sq. feet. Cost is $275 + GST for a 4 week period. Renewals can be secured two weeks before the end of the lease period and can be continued indefinitely. THE VANCOUVER OPERA FESTIVAL invites artists of all disciplines to apply to be a part of their Festival programming. 2019 marks the 3rd annual Vancouver Opera Festival, April 27-May 5. The Queen Elizabeth Theatre complex will host performances, special events, workshops, visual art and other surprises. The Festival features two main stage operas - Gounod's Faust, about a man who sells his soul to the devil, and Rossini's La Cenerentola, the classic Cinderella story. Vancouver Opera welcomes submissions from individual artists or groups to help enrich a festival attendant’s experience. Using the 2019 theme of Fairytales & Fables as inspiration, artists are asked to bring their vision to help offer the community a memorable experience and create something special that will have people buzzing on social media and talking long after the Festival is over. Artists are encouraged to “think big” as opera is filled with emotion. Works can be passive or interactive and can be one medium or inter-disciplinary. RECONCILIATION presented by Two Rivers Gallery (Prince George), invites submissions from BC’s Indigenous Artists. Two Rivers Gallery wishes to acknowledge and honour the healing and drawing-together for residential school survivors. The Gallery welcomes Indigenous perspectives on this issue and invites Indigenous artists living in BC working in any media to propose up to six artworks exploring reconciliation. VANCITY is now accepting applications of expressions of interest (EOI) from artists or artist teams who live or work in Metro Vancouver, Fraser Valley and Squamish Valley, to design and integrate a site-specific art commission. One artist information session will be hosted at the current Brentwood community branch at 1901 Rosser Avenue #106, Burnaby, on Dec 12, 2018,

7-8 pm. This session will provide an opportunity for interested artists and artist teams to learn about Vancity, the Brentwood community branch relocation, its community, and the proposed art commission for the new branch. 2020 MULTIFAITH CALENDAR welcomes submissions from all artists. The theme for the 2020 Multifaith Action Society’s annual calendar is Reimagining Peace and Harmony. This theme is open to a wide variety of interpretations and leaves open the possibility for a rich array of artistic submissions. Artwork can be submitted in any medium. Selected artists are offered an honorarium of $250 per monthly calendar image, $500 for the cover image, and $100 for smaller inset images placed throughout the Calendar.
