BC's Calls for Entry

Please submit your news

I am very grateful to those who regularly submit news. It is impossible for me to search every arts organization's website for news! I appreciate the many who voluntarily send me their Calls and Shows, which are free to publish. NOTE: However, lessons and workshops are considered paid advertising, but if you submit a Call or an Art Show, you can briefly mention your lesson or workshop,

at the end of your news item.

Those not who do not regularly  contact me with their news, please consider including The Artist’s Journal on your “media mailing list.” If this is not possible, let me include your e-mail in my news source list: you will receive a deadline reminder notice just before each issue, allowing you to submit your news on time for publication. Click here to be included on this list.

Iris for newsletter.jpg

I was born in the tropical country of Brazil, but then was transplanted as a young girl to a small hobby farm in the Langley area.

I have always loved the beauty that our world has to offer. I am especially drawn to the countryside where nature prevails. The bouquets of colours and textures found all around us is just waiting for someone to record them for future generations to come, before civilizations encroach and wipe them away. Painting preserves these areas on canvases like a historical book that records history on paper. I feel one with nature when I am busy painting a flower peeking through a crevice or a small bird perched on a log.

After a fulfilling career as an Elementary School Teacher and Counsellor I am now able to pursue my passion of drawing and painting. My journey as an artist has been short compared to others, but it has been fruitful no doubt.

I am actively involved in several art clubs where I have been taking classes in oil, acrylics and watercolour from many renowned artists. I took the position of being one of the Art Show Coordinators for two years at the Port Kells Art Club and became the President of the Club shortly thereafter. I am also a supporting member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.

I enjoy getting The Artist’s Journal and seeing what is out there for artists to display the talents that they possess. I wish to thank the publication for supporting artists and their creative endeavours. It is amazing how much time must have been spent on organizing this Journal. Thanks for doing this.

Sandy Bridal FOR NEWSLETTER.jpg

Sandy Bridal is a many-faceted artist. She began her adventure in art at the age of three when she picked up her first paint brush and realized the intense joy of colour and the satisfaction gained from creating something from her own imagination. She hasn’t looked back since.

Sandy was born in Vancouver and now resides in Mission, B.C. on lovely Hatzic Lake which gives her endless inspiration. She is basically self-taught, but has gained much in

technique from varied art classes and painting retreats throughout her journey. She

knows in her heart when a work is complete and doesn’t stop until it’s “finished.”

Subscriber profile:

Sandy Bridal

She has sold at craft fairs for many years, focusing mainly on cat & dog toys and gifts; but now she has a new website featuring her aptly named Art & Soul Gallery – for she truly puts her heart and soul into everything

she creates.

Sandy’s ‘go-to’ paint is acrylic, but she has dabbled in almost every other medium. She employs a colourful, realistic style, giving attention to fine detail. She also loves subjects like birds, boats, buildings, floral compositions, pet portraits, and ladies’ silhouettes. Her latest obsession is painting on glassware.

She has been on a lifelong journey making art and invites you to browse through her website. You might even find the perfect (and unique) gift for that special someone on your list. You may also discover that you share Sandy’s passion and perspectives on the beautiful, natural world in which we live.
