ARTS COUNCIL OF LADYSMITH invites their members to submit work for West Coast Architecture. West Coast Architecture was a style of home design that came out of Vancouver in the 1940s, and its goal was to harmonize a house with its natural surroundings, but the term can also mean any building or structure situated on this special coast we call home. Of course, Indigenous hands and minds had already been shaping buildings and landscapes here for thousands of years before Vancouver existed. Artists are asked to ponder what the idea of West Coast Architecture evokes for them: A quaint cabin with a mossy roof and cedar shakes, a hippy shack made of driftwood, an elegant and modern cityscape design? Does an eagle’s nest count as “architecture”? For more information and to submit work, visit Gallery Submission Information | ACLD ( Deadlines: Submission form due June 15; artwork due June 30.
